Best Wipes For Babies – Have All of Your Messes Covered

With babies come messes, so it’s important to have what you need to stay clean. Wipes are something that you will use everyday and in massive quantities. If you consider 1 wipe for a wet diaper and 3 for a dirty diaper and an average of 10 diaper changes per day, about 3 of which are dirty, you’re looking at about 16 wipes per day. That’s almost 6000 wipes in just the first year of your child’s life in diaper changes alone. You’ll be cleaning all sorts of other messes and some of those dirty diapers will take a lot more than 3 wipes, so I have put together a list of the best wipes for every occasion.

Best Overall

Product: Huggies Simply Clean

Package Types: Soft Packs, Reusable Tub & Big Packs

Scent Options: Fragrance Free & Fresh Scent

Flushable: No

Rainbow Mommy Rating: 5/5

Amazon Customer Rating: 4.4/5

Average price per container: $3 for 72 pack

Where to but it: HUGGIES Simply Clean on Amazon

What’s Great About These Wipes: I love these wipes because they are thicker than a lot of the other brands so they are great for cleaning dirty bums. It’s also easy to find good deals on these wipes so you can stock up. I buy the soft packs in bulk because they are perfect for keeping in a diaper bag or using at home.

What’s Not So Great About These Wipes: The biggest complaint moms have about these wipes is that sometimes they are difficult to get out of the package and they aren’t great for babies with sensitive skin.

Best For Big Messes

Product: Johnson’s Head-to-Toe

Package Types: Soft Packs

Scent Options: Clean Scent

Flushable: No

Rainbow Mommy Rating: 4/5

Amazon Customer Rating: 4.2/5

Average price per container: $4 for 15 pack

Where to but it: Johnsons Baby Head-To-Toe on Amazon

What’s Great About These Wipes: Unlike the standard size wipe (usually around 6in by 7in) these wipes are 7.8in by 11.8in and make it easy to wipe down your whole baby. They are a great solution when you aren’t able to give your baby a bath or when you’re out and about and end up with a bigger than normal mess to clean up. I used them to bathe my baby before his umbilical stump fell off.

What’s Not So Great About These Wipes: They are expensive per wipe so they’re not a good solution for everyday messes. They also don’t come in an unscented option and some moms have complained that the scent can be overwhelming, although it didn’t bother me.

Best For Hands & Face

Product: Babyganics Face, Hand, & Baby Wipe

Package Types: Soft Pack

Scent Options: Fragrance Free

Flushable: No

Rainbow Mommy Rating: 4/5

Amazon Customer Rating: 3.6/5

Average price per container: $7 for 60 pack

Where to but it: Babyganics Face, Hand & Baby Wipes on Amazon

What’s Great About These Wipes: These wipes are made with plant-based ingredients to be gentle on faces. They stay moist and make cleaning your baby’s hands and face a breeze. The soft packs can easily be thrown in a diaper bag for use on the go.

What’s Not So Great About These Wipes: Although my son didn’t have an issue, some moms complained that these wipes caused a rash on their baby’s face. They are also quite a bit more expensive than some of the other brands.

Best For Sensitive Skin

Product: Pampers Sensitive

Package Types: Soft Packs, Reusable Tub & Big Packs

Scent Options: Fragrance Free

Flushable: No

Rainbow Mommy Rating: 5/5

Amazon Customer Rating: 4.5/5

Average price per container: $2 for 56 pack

Where to but it: Pampers Sensitive Baby Wipes on Amazon

What’s Great About These Wipes: These wipes are extra soft and contain lotion for a gentle touch. I liked that these wipes aren’t as wet as other options but are still being able to get your baby clean. Since they aren’t as wet, they aren’t as cold either.

What’s Not So Great About These Wipes: The biggest complaint some moms have about these wipes is that they can be too dry. There have also been complaints that they leave fuzz on the baby.

Best For Potty Training

Product: Kandoo Kids Flushable Wipes

Package Types: Soft Packs, Reusable Tub & Big Packs

Scent Options: Fragrance Free

Flushable: Yes

Rainbow Mommy Rating: 4/5

Amazon Customer Rating: 3.8/5

Average price per container: $2 for 48 pack

Where to but it: Kandoo Flushable Wipes on Amazon

What’s Great About These Wipes: These wipes are great for potty training because they can be flushed like regular toilet paper but will get your baby cleaner. They can easily be taken with you when you’re out and about or used at home and are great for cleaning up accidents too.

What’s Not So Great About These Wipes: The biggest complaint moms have about these wipes is the size. They aren’t very big so many moms say it requires more than one wipe at a time to get clean. Flushing any type of wipes can also be an issue for some plumbing.

Wipe Warmer

Some babies are more sensitive than others, but I think any baby would prefer a warm wipe over a cold one. Warmers are very reasonably prices and easy to use, but in my experience the ongoing maintenance was more hassle than it was worth. We bought one to make diaper changes more pleasant for our son, but only used it for a few weeks. If you want to pamper your little one, check out this top rated wipe warmer.

  1. Thank you for all the wipes review which I do so appreciate.

I do babysitting my grandson a lot and have discovered that he had some skin reaction to a baby wipe which his parents are using since he was born.

I thought, there are not much to choose from when it comes to baby wipes but you have given me some alternatives which I do believe will be a better choice.

I also do like the wipe warmer didn’t know that something like this does exist.

Thank you for sharing all the information.

    1. I’m so glad it was helpful. With two kids under two I’ve had to try all sorts of options for all sorts of messes. I hope that you’re able to find something that works for your grandson.
