How To Rent Baby Gear in 2019

Are you traveling with your kids? Do you have friends or family coming to visit with small children? I recently discovered how to rent baby gear and it may be easier than you think to get everything that you need.

You can rent anything you need from large items to the little things and the best part is that all of the set-up is taken care of for you. So how does it work?

Plan Your Order

When you go to BabyQuip, you start by selecting your destination. This will take you to a list of all of the providers in the area. You can browse the providers to see what they have available and then start adding what you need to your order.

The delivery and set up is all taken care of for you, even if you need to be met at the airport with a car seat. Most providers add travel fees depending on how far the delivery is from their location, though, so I recommend selecting someone who is as close as possible to where you will be staying.

How Much Does It Cost?

The amount you pay can vary quite a bit depending on what you need and how long you need it. All of the prices are per day, but you can get discounts for extended rentals. You can get smaller items for only a couple dollars per day, but larger items and bundles are more. Don’t forget to also factor in any applicable travel fee.

When you consider the cost of checking an extra bag full of baby items, or trying to bring larger items with you, the cost of the rental will become more and more appealing. Not to mention the headache it will save you.

Gear That’s Available

#1 – A Crib

That’s right, you can rent a full-size crib for your little one! This is a stable that pretty much any provider you choose will have. You can also find pack-n-plays and toddler bed rails from some providers.

#2 – Strollers

If you don’t want to lug a heavy stroller on you trip you can find a huge selection available for rent. You may even want to rent a stroller just for specific days, like a trip to the zoo, instead of having it for the entire vacation.

#3 – Car Seats

No matter the age of your child, you can find the appropriate car seat to keep them safe during your trip. This is also a great item if you are watching someone else’s kids for a day or two. The best part about renting a car seat from BabyQuip is that the provider will set it up in your car for you.

#4 – Large Baby Items

All of our kids have some big items that make it easier to get through the day. For my son, a highchair is an absolute must because it is the only way to get him to sit still for a meal. My daughter loves her swing at nap time. Whatever it is for your baby, don’t worry, it’s probably available for rent.

#5 – Small Baby Items

Whether you need a baby carrier for a day out and about or a Bumbo chair for hanging around inside, you can find all sorts of smaller baby items that can help you get through your trip. When it comes to items like this, every provider has a different selection so you may have to search through a couple to find specific items that you want.

#6 – Books and Toys

Most providers have a variety of toys and some also have books. The toys and books are usually rented out in bundles that come with a set number of items. The bundles may be set up by age appropriateness or they may be by type (like bath toys for example). Some providers have great selections of toys, but others are a bit more limited.

#7 – Perishables

Some providers give you the option of buying perishables like diapers, snacks and water. If you don’t want to have to worry about packing all of those things and also don’t want to try to hunt down the closest store before starting your vacation, you can just have it all delivered with the rest of your items.

  1. I would love a post on which baby things are useful and which aren’t! I’m in the process of putting together the registry and I really love reading about parents’ recommendations (and regrets) regarding baby gear.
